Stargazing Event at Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre

Staff at Barton’s Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre have teamed up with the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and the BBC to host a free Stargazing Live event on Monday, January 16 from 6pm to 10pm.

The event is part of the BBC Stargazing LIVE week  and includes  stargazing, night walks, talks and family activity workshops and promises to be an exciting evening of stargazing where nature meets the stars.

Three local astronomy groups  – Lincolnshire Astronomy Society, East Riding Astronomers and the Scunthorpe Astronomy Group  – will be there with telescopes and expert help and advice as well as Lincolnshire astronomer Paul Money.

Activities on the night include a  talk with local expert Paul Money on a “Tour of the Winter Skies”; a Starlight quiz with a self-guided walk around the park, making glow in the dark Constellation Collages, a guided walk with night vision scopes, a display of moths which can be found in the winter, making bird feeders from pine cones as well as bat and owl masks to wear and making and decorating a book mark to take home.

Entry, which includes one free cup of hot chocolate, is free but admission is limited to 300 people.  Doors open at 6pm and close at 10pm.  For more information call 01652 631500.
