Illyria’s Pirates of Penzance to appear at Bardney Hall

Theatre lovers in the North Lincolnshire area will be able to enjoy two productions by renowned theatre company Illyria within a matter of days when they perform in Barton upon Humber later this month.

On Thursday, July 24, Bardney Hall once again throws open its gates for an open-air production with Illyria performing its much acclaimed The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan.

This production follows those previously performed at Thornton Abbey and arranged by the Barton Tourism Partnership and is the only one in this year’s season of Performance in the Park that is not free.

Starting at 7pm, a cost of seven actor-singers, along with a musical director on piano, will be performing one of the most famous of the Savoy Operas in its entirety.

Tickets to see The Pirates of Penzance cost £12 and can be bought from The Ropewalk on Maltkiln Road, Barton, or be calling the venue on 01652 660380.

The previous Saturday (July 19) Illyria will be in Baysgarth Park performing another of Roald Dahl’s most glorious classic, George’s Marvellous Medicine, again thanks to the Tourism Partnership.

Performing David Wood’s adaptation of the book, George’s Marvellous Medicine follows on from previous Illyria productions of James and the Giant Peach and Fantastic Mr Fox which both played in front of record crowds in the park.

This Illyria production is free and begins at 2pm.  It is suitable for all those five years and over.
