The Ted Lewis Centre will host a series of events celebrating his life and legacy. The Centre is open from 10.30am to 8pm and events include: a trail around Barton (11am to 1pm) guided by Ted Lewis’s biographer\, Monty Martin; visiting Ted’s favourite local spots; a screening of rare Get Carter American remake\, Hit Man (4pm to 5.30pm); and an evening presentation exploring Ted’s work and private life (6pm to 7.30pm). The Ropewalk\, formerly Hall’s Barton Ropery\, is a Grade II listed rope factory dating back to circa 1800\, with its roots in rope-making going as far back as 1767\, when the Hall family\, prominent shipowners from Hull\, first established operations in the town. \nThis impressive industrial structure stands as a rare example of early rope-making architecture\, stretching out in classic long-line form to accommodate the ropemaking process.
