Helen Good of the University of Hull’s History Department shares her recent research into local cases brought before the Queen’s Council sitting in the Palace of Westminster.  Originally established to ensure the fair enforcement of laws against those in power, the Star Chamber became synonymous with social and political oppression.  Joseph Wright Hall, Queen Street [DN18 5QP] at 7.30pm.  Admission for Civic Society members is free.  Non-members £2.  For up to date information visit: www.bartoncivicsociety.co.uk
